Lets play war

Starting the compulsory Finnish military service in the beginning of July. Figured I'd need a place to vent my thoughts about a relic from WWI

Never got a chance to shoot any pictures and they more or less forbade it due to possible russian espionage. So here’s a picture I snapped about half a year ago when my lill brother swore the oath.

Dropout

My military career ended up quite short, four days to be exact. The whole thing turned out to be the greatest motivatinal killer ever and simply felt like a waste of life. It would probably be possible to stay there if I didn’t have anything else to do and as I am now I’m always doing a bunch of stuff, especially when I’m bored. It would problably have gotten more interesting in the future but the boredom of not getting to do anything except smoke made it intolerable to even consider waiting for it.

There was one habit I found quite hilarious in Dragsvik considered rewards and punishments. As the only thing you basically were allowed to do except sitting on your ass and wait was smoking. The higher ups also rewarded our company with extra smoking breaks whenever we did something well enough. As a non smoker and someone who wouldn’t even consider smoking if I got paid for it I found it kinda unfitting and generally rude. You can smoka all you want but are not allowed to go for a run or hit the gym… It’s kinda setting a incredinly serious image for anyone who would actually tried and I would defenitely have kept trying if I was allowed to actually do something physical, the sole reason why I decided to try out the army in the place.

Oh well, going to do the required civilian service asap. Though I see it more as a punishment where you’re basically told not to do aything usefull for a year. I will hopefully work for my university and maybe get something fun to do, and I may always go for a run once the workday is over.

Slow start

Interesting day this first day, most thrilling thing that happened was a wasp flying past me… Well hopefully they’ve got something slightly more interesting planned for tomorrow

Last night of freedom

This picture kinda sums up my initiation in the navy tomorrow. Going to be a shitload of stuff to look trough, I think. Just, gotta find someone who looks like Kim Jong Un first.

Almost looking forward to the so called first morning, some people claim it’s kinda hellish. Gotta try to not die of laughter when some random teenager comes shouting orders

14

As of today I’ve got 14 days until I’m locked into clowntown(Nyland Brigade) for at least half a year. I actually have no intention of staying more than half a year in the navy as it’s always possible to serve through civil service. But that depends what I’m ordered to. Seeing how they tend to be ridiculously “impressed” by uni students it’s quite likely that I’ll pull a “Screw you guys, I’m going home” after two months.

The only problem with civil service is that I see it as a bigger joke than military service. Most jobs I’ve heard of are more or less just about sitting somewhere for a year, with minimal pay. I see it as a punishment for people who won’t complete their military service, and a total waste of tax money.

Soo… why am am I wasting my time on this? Well, as I see the whole Finnish defense circus is a total wast of tax money. It’s a useless relic from the first world war and they give guns to complete utter idiots.

People usually enlist straight after highschool just after they’ve turned eighteen. I was kicked out because of a “medical” condition and will most likely be stuck with a bunch of annoying kids.

Way to waste my life…
